Privacy Policy

Location

If you allow it, the app reads your device's location (GPS or network) to show fishing conditions for where you are. You can deny location access and search for a place by name instead.

Coordinates are sent to our server at go-fishing.app, which forwards them to Open-Meteo (weather forecast) and BigDataCloud (the name of the nearest town). Our server keeps a short-lived in-memory cache keyed by coordinates rounded to about 1 km (up to 6 hours) so repeat requests are fast. Your location is not saved to any database and is never linked to an identity. Like any website, the server keeps standard technical logs (request URLs, which include the coordinates, IP addresses and errors) for a limited time, only for security and troubleshooting.

Place search

Place names you type into the search box are sent to our server and to the Open-Meteo Geocoding API to find matching places.

Data stored on your device

Your language, saved spots and favorites, and the latest forecast (so the app works offline) are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. They never leave it except as the requests described above. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes them.

What we don't do

• No user accounts, sign-in, or personal profiles.
• No advertising and no ad identifiers.
• No analytics, tracking cookies, or cross-app tracking.
• No selling or sharing of personal data.

Hosting and donations

The website is served through Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. If you choose to donate, you are taken to the payment provider's own page, and their privacy policy applies; the app never sees your payment details.

Children

The app is a general-audience weather tool and does not knowingly collect data from children.
